Bevan’s Swift
Borbo bevani ( Moore ) HESPERIIDAE -
( =Baoris bevani )
Adult
Upperside pale brown. Male FW with atleast 6 white spots and HW with
3 spots. Female FW with atleast 9 white spots and HW with 4 spots. Underside
pale greenish brown with prominent white spots. Wingspan 32-36mm.
Distributed both in plains and in the hills with strong representation
in the western ghats, than in other parts of South India. Active during
morning and late afternoons.
Larva
Pale green, smooth with brown, bilobed head. Body thickest in the middle.
Feeds on rice and Grasses.
Distribution
India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand,
the Philippines, New Guinea and Australia.
