Adult

Upperside black. FW elongate, triangular with brilliant turquoise blue/greenish
wide band, pointed at the tip and a few rounded spots extending to the
apex. HW with the band pointed towards the tail and sub-marginal semilunar
blue spots. Underside brown with band more bluish than the upperside.
HW with red spots at the base and the disc. Wingspan 80-90mm.

Common in the wooded regions of south India and in the Himalayas from
Kashmir further eastwards. Among the swallowtails, it comes readily to
natural baits such as rotting insects. A very nervous butterfly and often
difficult to catch. Visits the flowers of lantana. Etc.
Larva
Green with transverse golden band and a pair of spines on each thoracic
segment and anal segment.
Feeds on cinnamon, camphor, machilus, avocado, miliusa odoratissima,
Litsea glutinosa, Alseodaphne semecarpifolia, Michelia doltsopa, cryptocarya
spp. Etc
Distribution
India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, china, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Malaysia, japan,
papua new guinea, the Solomon islands and Australia.
