'Paramparya' the Ashtamudi arts n crafts festival, Kollam
Location: Ashramam maidan, Kollam town, south Kerala.
Arts and Crafts Festival Paramparya is a curtain raiser to the treasure
trove of the arts and crafts tradition of India. The second annual
exhibition was held on the banks of Ashtamudi Lake at Ashramam Maidan,
Kollam. Inside the hundreds of huts scattered across the fair grounds
craftsmen were absorbed in perfecting their masterpieces. In addition
to a display and sale of puppets, dolls, wood carving, jewellery,
silver articles, cane and coir crafts etc, there were folk and tribal
art performances which enthralled visitors. International craft film
festival, seminars, talks etc. were also conducted. The festival was
organised by the Kollam District Tourism Promotion Council in association
with the State and Central Governments For the promotion of
Arts & Crafts in Kerala.
