Kathakali is one of the oldest theatre forms in the world. It originated
in Kerala. Kathakali originated in Kerala, South India over 500 years
ago Kathakali is a group presentation, in which dancers take various
roles in performances traditionally based on themes from Hindu mythology,
especially the two epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
Kathakali has a unique combination of literature, music, painting,
acting and dance and uses the training exercises of Kalari Payttu,
the martial art of Kerala.
