A paradise for nature's lover, Munnar is situated at the confluence
of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathani & Kundala.
Located at 1600 meter above sea level, this hill station was once
the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India.
Munnar is a picturesque scope of the lofty Western Ghats.
The temperature of Munnar varies from 0 degree Celsius to 30 degree
Celsius, according to the winter. The usual temperature of summer
varies from 15 degree Celsius to 25 degree Celsius & that of winter
from 0 degree Celsius to 10 degree Celsius. The main cultivation crops
in Munnar are Tea and Coffee
All kinds of South Indian animals and birds are found in Munnar and
surroundings. You can have a closer look at them at Eravikulam national
park or Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. In Munnar you can go for various
adventures such as trekking, boating, riding, angling, or just take
a walk in the peaceful scenario of Munnar. Munnar also has the highest
peak in South India - Anamudi , which towers over 2695 m. Anamudi
is an ideal spot for trekking.
Sprawling tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes, and
holiday facilities make this a popular resort town. Miles and miles
of unending tea plantations are there to welcome you. Among the exotic
flora found in the forests and grasslands here is the Neelakurinji.
This flower which bathes the hills in the blue every twelve years,
will bloom next in 2006 AD.
