Location : Near Vypeen Island accessible by boat (30 minutes journey) from Ernakulam

The lovely beach bordering the Vypeen island is ideal for swimming. The sea on the western side and the backwaters on the east give this upcoming tourist destination, a uniqueness which can be found only in Kerala. Thick coconut groves and chinese fishing nets on the waterfront are added attractions.

A very quiet beach, Cherai, is well known for sea food and country wine - Toddy. From Ernakulam you have to take the boat from High Court Jetty or the Main boat jetty to Vypeen. From Fort Cochin there is ferry to Vypeen every 15 minutes. It is 40 minutes by bus from Vypeen. The Pallipuram Fort built by the Portuguese is 4 Km from here.

Its the latest entry in a tourist diary- the Cherai in Ernakulam district. It's the new generation tourist hot spot. Golden beaches, coconut palms corridors, backwaters, historical monuments. Just 15 minutes drive from North Paravur.

One of the most visited places of Ernakulam is the Cherai Beach. Located near the Bolghatty Island, famous for its palace of the same name attracts a considerable number of tourists every year. The Bolghatty Palace of the island was built in 1744 by the Dutch and later taken over by the British. Now the palace has been converted to a hotel by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation. It also has a small gold course and few special honeymoon cottages
