Sree Adi Sankaracharya Jayanthi is the birthday of the great Indian philosopher who preached the philosophy of Advaita.

The shrine at Kalady, the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya (788 - 830 A.D.), is a pilgrimage centre of people from all over the world. Sringeri Mutt temple, Sree Ramakrishna Advaita Ashramam and Adishankara Keerthi Stambha Mandapam are the important centres in Kalady.
