Green Daal (Parippu Curry)

Green gram dal (peeled yellow) 1 cup  
Garlic 3 or 4 flackes Peel and crush
Curry Leaves Small bunch  
Turmeric Powder 1/2 teaspoon  
Salt To taste  
Oil 1 tablespoons  
Cumin Seeds 1/2 teaspoon  
Mustard Seeds A Pinch  
Coconut 1/2 cup Grated
Red Chilli 1 or 2  

 

Preparation of Green Daal - Parippu curry

1. Cook dal till soft, with water.

2. Grind turmeric powder, grated coconut, and cumin seed, to fine paste.

3. Add the ground paste, and salt into the dal and boil. Simmer till it assimilates, adding little water if it gets too thick. Remove from heat.

4. In a small pan heat a tablespoon of oil, put some mustard seeds, when they start sputtering, add red chilli, and the curry leaves, fry them, and them pour over the dal.

5. Serve hot rice.
