Kottarakkara Ganapathy Temple
Kottarakkara Ganapathy Temple 1 km west of town MCRoad and from quilon
22 kms east, Sree Mahadevan facing east and Sree Parvathy facing west
in the Sreekovil and prominence to south facing Ganapathy. Meenam
Thiruvathira Aarattu, Unniyappam main offering.
This temple is in Kottarakkara Manikandeswaram is the real name.
Main deity is Siva but sub deity Ganapathy is having more importance.
Round shrine Siva faces east and Ganapathy south Parvathy fating west
and a pond in east front. Three poojas and tantries done by Tharananalloor
Madom. Flag start is golden other sub deities are Sastha, Subramanya
and Naga. The offering of Unniyappam in Ganapathy temple is very famous.
11 days festival as Thiruvathira Arattu during month Medam. The Royal
sculpturist Perumthachan offer the death of his son wandered with
out sleeping in any houses after three days reached this temple. He
made Ganapathy in the root of Jack tree laid there and installed this
child Ganapathy in the Agni comer and then famous became this temple.
