Navarathri, mandala Pooja are celebrated. main festival in Medam for
10 days. the 5th day procession ( Ancham purappadu) is most important
and the "Vilakkeduppu" - Carrying the lighted lamps by the
girls of age 5 to 10, wearing their ornaments is an important vazhipadu
in this temple. Sree Kovil open at 2 o' clock in the early morning.
( the first of its kind in India) and the Usha Naivedyam at 2.30 am.
As the timing in the ceremonies are strict and even on the day of
eclipse, the closing of the Sreekovil at that time is not observed
here. The main offering is Usha Payasam is famous and it is offered
to the fulfillment of the desires. Palpayasam, Appom, Muzhukkap are
other offerings.
