Judiciary Kollam

District and Sessions Judge (District Judge), Kollam is the highest authority in the revenue district.  The District court is the Principal Court of the original civil jurisdiction in the District and also the Appellate Court of the subordinate courts in the District.

There are 30 courts functioning in the Revenue District of Kollam.  19 Courts are at Civil Wing and 11 courts are at Criminal Wing.  In the Civil Wing 6 Courts having the power of District and Sessions Division and 3 courts having the power of Assistant Sessions Division.

The District Judge exercise general control over all Civil Courts in the District.
The District Court has also attached 5 Additional District and Sessions Courts, in which 2 Courts are designated as Additional District and Sessions Courts (Adhoc I and II) established mainly for the purpose of speedy disposal of Abkari cases and cases of under trial prisoners.

The IIIrd Additional District and Sessions Court is also designated as, Kollam (Kavanadu) having the territorial jurisdiction of Thiruvanthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Alappuzha.

Family Court is also functioning in the District.

The District Court is situated in the Civil Station complex, Kollam.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate is the highest authority of the criminal courts of the Revenue District of Kollam.
