Baked Fish Curry

Baked Fish Curry

ingredients for 4 for 100
mackerel or pomfret 500 gm 12.5 kg
Red chillies 5 gm 115 gm
fennel 1 tsp 50 gm
salt to taste 100 gm
water 15 -30 ml 340 -680 ml
vinegar 30 ml 680 ml
banana leaves    
oil 15 ml 250 ml

Method

1.Clean fish . Keep mackerel whole but cut pomfret into large pieces . 2. Make gashes in the fish .3. Grind together red chillies ,fennel and salt . 4 Simmer over fish .5. Apply oil on banana leaves .Line a pan with these leaves . Place fish over .6. Add vinegar ,cover with banana leaves and put lid on .Put live coal on lid . Cook over gentle heat till fish is cooked .

N.B . This dish can also be prepared in the oven in a covered dish .
