ingredients for 4
mackerel 4 (500 gm )
ginger 5 gm
garlic a few flakes
onions 115 gm
red chillies 5 gm
coriander 10 gm
poppy seeds 5 gm
green chillies a few
for tempering  
mustrd seeds a pinch
fenugreek a pinch
red chillies b 1
cumin a pinch
mustard oil 30 ml
lime 1
jaggery or sugar 3-5 gm
salt to taste

Method

1. Grind together ginger ,garlic ,onions , red chillies ,coriander,poppy seeds and green chillies .2. Clean and wash the fish .Salt lightly .3. Heat mustard oil and fry well. 4. Remove .Pour off excess oil.5. Add all ingredients for tempering except lime ,sugar or jaggery .6. When mustard seeds crackle ,add ground spices and fry well .7. Add very little water ,salt and sugar or jaggery .6.When mustard seeds crackle ,add ground spices and fry well . 7. Add very little water ,cooked .9. When gravy is fairly thick and fish and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes .10. Remove and serve hot with slices of lime .
